I want a word/root that is the opposite of “meta”.
“Meta” is all about abstracting away from details, and drifting into the realm of content-free algebra.
How should we describe the opposite move? A move towards phenomenological richness and specificity. A descent from the chilly mountaintop that is the “view from nowhere” into the jungle of “views from right here”.
An image of climbing down from the high Andes into the Amazon rainforest manifests itself.
Perhaps I am asking for the impossible, since the peak is one, but the paths of descent are infinite.
